Benefits

An infrared sauna is a type of sauna that uses infrared heaters to emit infrared light, which is absorbed by the skin and produces heat. Unlike traditional saunas that heat the air around you, infrared saunas penetrate your skin and heat your body directly. This leads to a deeper, more detoxifying sweat.

According to the CDC, about 697,000 people in the United States died from heart disease in 2020 that's 1 in every 5 deaths. Infrared saunas have been found in many studies to benefit vascular endothelial function, lower blood pressure, reduce inflammation, and improve markers of heart disease. In fact, long-term regular sauna use has been correlated with an up to 50% lower incidence of death from heart disease compared with non-sauna users. Other stated benefits include:

  • Improved circulation and cardiovascular health

  • Detoxification through increased sweating

  • Pain relief from muscle and joint soreness

  • Relaxation and stress reduction

  • Skin rejuvenation through increased blood flow and collagen production.

A cold plunge is a form of hydrotherapy that involves submerging your body in cold water for a short period of time. Typically, the water temperature in a cold plunge is around 40°F or lower.

Benefits

Deliberate cold exposure has been found to enhance mental health, physical health, and overall performance. It causes a significant release of neurochemicals that increase energy, focus, and mood. It also increases metabolism by forced body temperature regulation and stimulating the conversion of white fat to brown fat, and improves recovery through the reduction in circulating creatine kinases. Other stated benefits include:

  • The reduction of inflammation and promotion of healing within the body.

  • Increased blood flow and oxygenation.

  • Stimulates the immune system, improving overall health and reducing the risk of illness.
